History & Aim of Education
St. Joseph Girls' Inter College is run by the religious sisters of the Jesus and Mary Society. The institution was started in France by Saint Claudine Thévenet. In 1841, at the invitation of Bishop Borghi, the Bishop of Agra, she decided to come to India.
A group of six religious sisters left their beloved country, France, for India on 27 January 1842. After facing many difficulties and illnesses, they reached Agra on 11 November 1842. They established two schools here. St. Joseph Girls' Inter College has the distinction of being the second of these schools. It was established in January 1843.
In 1932, the school received recognition as a Junior High School. Later in 1967, it received recognition as a High School, and in 1979, it received recognition as an Intermediate College, continuing its legacy of value-based holistic education.
